The Apex ASE1 is designed specifically to add 'sparkle' and definition to your overall audio program mix. It uncovers sonic details often lost in audio systems, adds high-end definition and clarity to analog sources and increases sonic resolution of the overall audio source. It's multi-band spectrum processing adds definition and power to the bottom end, while at the same time improving the stereo imaging. A proprietary hum and noise reduction circuit reduces noise in the signal path as well. The ASE1 has servo balanced XLR and 1/4 inch phono plug TRS inputs and outputs. A fast response peak limiter on the output stage helps reduce distortion and further protects speaker systems. The  ASE1 uses a sonic principle that's based on frequency-selective phase shifting in conjunction with program-dependent equalization and pulse enlargement. Automatic and 'natural' correction during signal processing offers quality sound enhancement that had been previously inconceivable. Program-dependent control allows the 'musical,' unobtrusive transparency required for the subtle nuances of classical music, yet also provides the necessary brilliance for pop recordings. Owing to its dynamic control, and in contrast with conventional processors, this circuitry does NOT introduce any additional noise, non-related harmonics or distortion. The new VSP (Variable Sound Processing) circuit used in the s ASE1 Sound Enhancement Processor allows for variable blending between Enhancer and Exciter. Using the HF Process control, you effectively tweak the processing of the high frequencies. The result is increased brilliance and transparency. Blending from one effect to the other can adapt the processing perfectly to the respective audio material. The ASE1 Sound Enhancement Processor is also equipped with a tunable bass processor, which allows for sound enhancement in the lower frequency range. The 'dual-mode' circuit allows you to tune between soft and tight bass enhancement.

Features

-ASE1 Controls
- LF Contour - The LF Contour control varies the shape of the low frequency signal being processed. Centered, there is no processing. Rotating the control in the counterclockwise direction processes the low frequency information with 'warm,' and 'soft' bass tonality. Clockwise will process a 'tighter' more 'percussive' low content. The setting depends on the application you are addressing.
- NOTE: To avoid possible damage to speakers, avoid extreme settings. Most near-field monitors are NOT capable of handling the processed bass that the s ASE1 is capable of!
- Tune - The Tune control sets the lower cutoff frequency of the HF Process filter. Using this control you can tune to the appropriate frequency for the best desired effect. The cutoff frequency is adjustable between 1.0kHz and 8.0kHz.
- HF Process Control - The Process control sets the flavor of HF processing that you desire.
- NOTE: With classical program material, acoustic instruments, or with output signals that already include sufficient high frequency content, the Enhance setting may be preferred.
- HF Level - The HF Level control determines the amount of HF processing. This is where you can fine tune the amount of 'transparency' desired.
- Limiter - The s ASE1 Sound Enhancement Processor includes a limiter that is screwdriver-adjustable over 45dB. The clockwise position coincides with the processor's maximum output capability, so this is the setting which is equivalent to no limiting.

REAR PANEL CONNECTORS & CONTROLS

Input Jacks - All inputs feature both balanced XLR and ¼¨ inputs. Remember, use either the XLR or the ¼¨ input on individual channels while using the either XLR or ¼¨ on the output. Output Jacks - Balanced XLR and ¼¨ outputs are available, and are wired in parallel.
